Those who truly love their dogs do not want to scare or hurt them! - I’ve known Lisa for over 10 years. From our first meeting it was obvious that her dogs came first and I always respected her for that! She made it her mission to learn as much as possible in order to be the best dog Mom ever, which led to her mentoring with Greg and I and eventually completing the Canine Correspondence Studies Professional Dog Training & Behaviour Therapy Career Course and earning her certification. She has successfully completed the course and logged over 550 hours of practical hands-on experience. Lisa understands the importance of using only 100% scientifically proven and positive techniques in order to speed up the learning process and changing unwanted behaviours while putting your dog’s experience and happiness first. When you hire a professional to help you train your dog or change unwanted behaviours you want someone who understands how much you love your dog and that although you want change, you also want your dog’s temperament and emotional wellbeing protected, because those who truly love their dogs do not want to scare or hurt them. When you have the privilege of working with Lisa you will know that like her own dogs, you and your dogs will be her top priority, she will love your dog as much as you do, and you’ll get results! There are very few people whom I trust with my own dogs and Lisa is one of them. To say I’m pleased with what you taught me is an understatement! - Hi my new friend! For the last three weeks I have been composing a thank you for your help with my girl. I will give you a run down of our successes and they have been many thanks to your advice. Reacting to men on walks. Jenny loves her treats. When a man comes into view as we are walking she will stop and look towards the man then look to me for a treat. Yesterday she went right up to one of our male friends and nudged his hand for a pet. She used to hide from him. Our walks take longer now because as you advised I let her top and smell everything. Since learning from you how to read her body language there have been no accidents in the house. I was walking in the park and had Jenny on a long leash and we ran into a couple friends with their dogs. I gave the leash to my sister and went to say hello to the dogs. They were excited to see me, barking, jumping up at me. I’m proud to say that Jenny just sat beside my sister and looked at her then me. She didn’t bark or try to run away from her. I think she’s doing fantastic. To say I’m pleased with what you taught me is an understatement. So THANK YOU! Thanks again I’ll keep you posted and will definitely recommend you to anyone needing help. Betty & Jenny
Lisa Worked Her Magic! - We are beyond grateful to have had Lisa work with us and our Havanese puppy, Wally. We started with the 4 - 1 hour sessions Training Package and then we dropped Wally off at her place for one week during the daytimes so she could imprint him and socialize him with her 3 beautiful Pointers who were very gently with little Wally. Lisa worked her magic on our puppy and even our 4 year old daughter LOL because mostly, dog training is about training the owners! We each had our own shortcomings in training Wally and she picked up on them and gave us each specific techniques to follow through with. We felt it was a great combination to have her come over and meet the pup (we did so the day we got him and she had critical tips on what do with him right off the bat) and our family a few times and then send him to her house for training - he felt very comfortable being dropped off. Wally absolutely loves her! Lisa was extremely responsive when we needed her for extra advice and provided lots of background info for us look over. Five Stars all around. Well worth the money. Lisa Really Knows Her Stuff! - Highly recommend this positive dog trainer! Lisa really knows her stuff! Do not hesitate to call. Colleen H
Lisa Is An Excellent Dog Trainer! - Lisa is an excellent dog trainer! She took our 10 week old puppy, Fred, on relatively short notice for imprint training. We had been having some specific issues with separation anxiety and nipping and have a (human) baby in the house so the biting and barking was going to be difficult for our family and we were stumped on how to train Fred out of those issues. Our puppy spent a week with Lisa and he improved substantially on the issues and picked up some new skills! We were able to watch the progress as she posts live videos on the Living Better Facebook group, and get all our questions answered in weekly chats with other puppy parents. And she provided us with a helpful report at the end of his progress and how we could continue the training. The whole experience was really excellent! It’s clear Lisa is knowledgeable and passionate about good relationships between dogs and their families. Anastasia Vogt
Hiring Lisa was one of the best decisions I ever made! - Lisa is a positive and passionate dog trainer. Hiring her was one of the best decisions I ever made! My injury and pain worried me about setting a good foundation for Milo. Then came the lockdowns and puppy socialization became an added concern. We sent our pup from day one to Lisa's and he ended up staying there almost a month. Not only did Lisa cover the basics she made sure that I understood them as well. I felt my pup was safe in her care and was treated as if he was one of her own. Her three pointers made excellent role models that helped him learn even faster. Even though his stay is done she has made herself available to any questions we have. We join her weekly Q & A session on Facebook's live. If I had to do it all over again I would hire Lisa again! This Is The Most Important Class Your Puppy Will Take! - For anyone considering this class, let me say it is the most important class your puppy will take. You may take other classes to perfect your technique, but this class is really for your puppy. Don’t get me wrong it is for you too, but hear me out. A big part of this class is socialization. The puppies get to play in a controlled, positive setting. Then they have to work. First, this works on their socialization skills. You really can’t do enough of that. They learn how to play appropriately and respectfully and you work to maintain it. In addition, the class structure also works on their self-control, especially after you get them excited. That is REALLY hard for a puppy. And it doesn’t matter where your dog came from or where on the spectrum of angel to Tasmanian devil they are. Lisa treats ALL dogs with respect. She can bring out your dog’s best and show you how to do the same. Lisa is really AMAZING. This is the SECOND time i have taken level 1. Why? My dog got bitten despite doing everything right. We are working on our socialization to ensure there is no lasting effects. Does it mean we are bored for half the class? NO WAY. Lisa keeps it engaging and level appropriate for each dog. We had the BEST time in our last class. Just a joy. Honestly, I can’t say enough. A wonderful class that will likely be the most important class your puppy will take. Tania Alexson

Lisa at Living Better Dog Training is amazing! During the COVID lockdowns we adopted an adult dog with an unknown history. Rocky was okay in the house, but extremely reactive to dogs and some people on walks. Taking him out was stressful and embarrassing. We had tried just about everything – private training (with a different trainer), treat training, no-pull harness, martingale collar, prong collar, gentle leader, socializing at dog parks… None of it helped. After almost two years of struggling, we decided to try training with Lisa. From the first private lesson we noticed an improvement. Lisa showed us the correct way to use treats and a no-pull harness. She also provided us with lots of training PDFs that we could continue to reference. From there we took a 4-week reactive dog class where she provided us with guidance and showed us how to keep Rocky’s focus on us instead of reacting to the other dogs in the class. WOW huge results, we could finally walk Rocky without major meltdowns, and we are no longer stressed when we take him out. Even when he does react now it is much smaller, a few barks instead of a complete meltdown. Now we are finishing up our Life Skills 2 class where Lisa is continuing to help us keep Rocky focused on us while out in public. We continue to see improvements in Rocky and how we handle him. Now we can walk him in a group with multiple dogs, in busy parks and even downtown without much fuss. We would highly recommend Lisa at Living Better Dog Training to anyone who needs help with training. She is truly passionate about what she does and wants to make the dogs (and owners) lives better! We wouldn’t have been able to improve Rocky’s behaviour without her help! Nicole Lecomte
